Hi
I know if an iphone's serial number starts with 5k its a refurb.
Now if an iphone 4's serial starts with 87 is it refurbished or not?
Thanks

Some of the refurbs can still be distinguished by serial #. Both of my replacement i4s have had a 5K serial number, as did all 3 of my replacement 3Gs.

Bring into the apple store when you first get it, it will still have the original buyers name attached to it. I have boughten and sold about 10 refurbs over the last 2yrs, they always ask me if I am so and so and I say no...

The other way is to just put your serial number into the the warranty checker, if you just bought the phone and it only has 8 months or so left on warranty then its a refurb.

No, they give it a new serial number, so you won’t get one that only has 6 months. Sorry.

I’ve never heard of a returb having the original buyer’s name attached to it. I’ve received two and saw nothing like that.

Referring to the poster above about the 5K serial number, all I know is that Apple did away with the designation of 5K as a refurb. At least that’s what was reported on here over a year ago.
