Apple shipped my Macbook Pro earlier than I thought, thus I will be at work Monday when it comes. I plan on going to the Fedex facility after work.
Am I going to need the door tag to claim the package, or just my license?
Fedex is on the way home and I'd rather not have to go back to pick up the door tag.

(and way to go Fedex for having absolutely nothing about the procedure for receiving packages on your website. classy)

Driver License might work, most likely your going to need that tag tho as it has a number on it so they can find your package. If you bring in your license tho it should be just fine (remember the package wont be at fedex until later that night so you won't be able to pick it up until tuesday.)

FYI, fedex left my imac at the door and my wife got it about a half hour later and put it in the house on my desk. You can leave fedex a note if your housing area is safe and tell them to leave the package on the door and you will need to include your signature on that paper.

or you could just print out your shipping confirmation from Apple just in case.

I really don't see the need for the tag.

Also print out the FedEx tracking information., which has the number you need to find the package. I have done this before with no problem. Those FedEx guys are so nice and efficient, very unlike UPS (at least around here - NEVER use UPS for ANYTHING).

Just remember fedex will take the package to your house on monday and monday night they will drop it back off at there office. You won't be able to pickup the system until tuesday unless you can stop fedex from shipping it to your house monday and leaving it at the office for yourself to pickup.

hmmmm, probably it depends on where you live but I know that in the Los Angeles area I've been able to go to the Fed Ex office on the same day they attempted delivery and pick up my package....I'm remembering they were open until something like 7 or 7:30pm so that people could pick up stuff

You need the doortag to claim your product. And may I add that I HATE these stupid door tags. Unless you request that the product be held at the facility, I think that it would be better if they just left it at your front door step. It is a hastle going there and waiting in line and stuff.

Thanks for the replies. All of the Fedex Door Tags I've gotten said pickup was available after 6 the same day (the place it goes back to is open til 9) and I have done this multiple times, I was just trying to save myself a trip.

They just left my G5 on the porch (in it's big, flashy, "steal me, I'm a Powermac G5 box), but that's what the Ground guys seem to do. Tracking said signed for by "P. Orch."

Express always seems to leave door tags. I'll probably call 1-800-Go Fedex later. I detect a painful mechanical operator process...

I have picked up several FedEx Express packages after work without having to have a door tag, but never a FedEx Ground package. I just took my printed tracking information and that was enough. At least where I am there are never any long lines and it goes fast. FedEx Ground seems to operate on a totally different schedule, and sometimes delivers late into the night (I have got shipments after 9:30 at night before).

Do this. You can pick it up at your leisure that day as opposed to waiting for it to be trucked out and back (plus, think of the environment, make the driver drive less :) )...

Followup -

I did not need the tracking number nor door tag to pick up my computer.

and now my lap is warm.
