Regarding iPhone 7 Plus Lightning Port Durability

Hello Folks,

I am usually SUPER OCD about my phones so just out of curiousity I was going thru my phone looking for faults and I found that when I plug in the lightning connector to my iPhone 7 Plus and try to wiggle it vertically it has bit of play in it, It does not connect/reconnect or affects charging in any way but It kind of bugged me. I went to a store checked some 6 and 6s they were rock solid but when I started 7 pluses 2 out of 5 were same like mine and rest 3 were rock solid. There is no apple store here so If i decide to do something about it it will be spending $200 to swap this one with a brand new one but after checking those phones in the store I am not sure if its just my phone of if these are just production tolerances since it does not impact functionality at all and is very minor, Can you please try yours and let me know if your 7 plus' lightning connector has bit of play in it when plugged in and moved vertically? (And yes there is no lint in it ive checked and the phone is 4 months old).

My iPhone 7 Plus does not have any side to side play with the lightning cable connected. My 6S Plus does have some aplay when the cable is connected. If I recall correctly, Apple actually tightened the tolerances with the lightning port on the iPhone 7, which I noticed immediately how it snaps firmly into place and does not move.

What I'm trying to say is that my iPhone 6S has some play in it. But my iPhone 7 does not have any play with the lightning port and the lightning cable connected. okay thanks But this does not explain the 7 plus phones I checked at a store, 2 out of 5 phones had same play like mine.

So what is your concern then? If The results are variable with no real metric, then why would you consider returning it?

I am concerned if its something I can live with because if it aint getting worse like port fallin out or becoming more loose than I really have no reason to return it since everything else Is fine.
