Hello to everybody. So I've been working with garage-band for a while and now I want to upgrade to Logic. My iMac is from the year 2017 and is a quad core 3.8ghz with 8 RAM. I looked at the 'about this Mac' and it said the memory is 8gb. When it says memory 8gb, does it mean RAM 8gb? I want to upgrade and put more RAM because Logic is a much bigger software and it may be difficult to work with, with only 8gb RAM. My questions are, will putting 32gb RAM( which I've gathered, that is the limit) strengthen the Mac so it can work with Logic?
Also, does RAM cost a lot of money to upgrade to 32gb? My last question is does the technician have to open the Mac or turn it on, in order to put more RAM in it? Is it safe? Thanks in advance.

Yes, 32 GB of RAM will make Logic run great! It's a 2017 27-inch iMac, yes? If it's a 21.5-inch, RAM upgrades aren't possible. It's not an expensive upgrade, just make sure the RAM you're getting is compatible. I believe those 2017 iMacs take 2400 MT/s DDR4 RAM, and 32 GB of that should run you roughly $70. You'll have to take off the little cover thing on the back of the iMac to access the RAM. Look at this page for more information.

Yeah man you got it. Spot on. Thankfully mine is the 27inch iMac. 70 dollars seems pretty reasonable to me. Thanks for the help!
