help everybody
My 2015 iMac with 2tb fusion drive broke , I get no power at all so I pulled the fusion drive out , I also have another iMac 27” BUT FROM 2008 that is working fine but with a much smaller HD, theoretically will I be able to just open the 2008 iMac up and plug the newer 2tb fusion drive on it without any modification? And most importantly will it boot up the OS like normal?

TIA

The fusion drive is just a software configuration. There is not just one device - you have two storage devices that make up your fusion drive: a hard drive (spinning disk type), and an SSD, which on your iMac, will be a card, similar to an M2 SSD card.
Did you remove both of those parts - or just one?
27-inch iMac did not appear until 2009, but would use a different setup, and there's no way to put BOTH devices in there.

What you want to do is not just a bad idea. it's also impractical. The HDD sitting in that 2008 runs a lot hotter and the 2015 cooling system isn't designed for that. If SATA I or II, it may not be forwards compatible.

Do you know which component of the fusion drive is bad?

You also have an upgrade opportunity here. A fast aftermarket SSD like the 970 EVO is about 3.5 times faster than the drives installed in your iMac. A slower blade like the Intel 660o is only twice as fast but costs a lot less. Both are available 2TB and get you away from the fusion drive all together.

You need to run High Sierra to use either if you aren't already.

Sorry guys I think I didn’t explain myself properly , the iMac 2015 27” just died on me, none of the LED’s on the logic board light up , I tried putting another working power supply to no avail , still no power, so I guess it’s the logic board . So I took out the 2tb fusion on it and since I have a 2008 iMac laying around doing nothing , I was wondering, if I can just open it up and plug in the 2tb fusion on it and power it up, would it boot (high Sierra) like it was on the 2015 iMac?
*i have not separated the fusion drive , I wouldn’t know how to , it looks just like a regular hard drive
* I am trying to use a new model fusion drive on a old mode iMac

Again the fusing of the TWO physical drives is a simple software process, not a hardware process at all. The drives will consist of a 128GB Blade Drive, looks somewhat like a memory module, the hard a Seagate 2TB platter drive.

To me sounds like a Power Supply failure.

And once again I am telling you the power supply is fine , most likely it’s the logic board , not to be rude but all I am asking is , what will happen if I connect the fusion drive INSIDE an older 2008 iMac ?

Please understand this:
The fusion drive is two separate hardware items. One is a hard drive (the one that you removed). The other part is the SSD. In your iMac, the SSD will be a blade-type drive, just a small, plug-in card.
If you don't have both pieces, then you have nothing.
You can't do anything with both pieces, unless you have another Mac that will take BOTH drives.
The only item that can connect INSIDE your 2008 iMac is the hard drive part. You can't connect the blade SSD INSIDE. So, you have nothing.
