Can anyone either tell me, or lead me to a web page, about the things to do for regular home maintenance of my Intel iMac? I know there are actions to take, but besides running the permissions with Disc Utility I can never remember what they are. Thank you so much!

If you keep your computer on 24/7 then none of them are needed, OS X automatically does all of that on its own at 3:15 A.M. everyday, 4:30 A.M. on Saturdays, and 5:30 A.M. on the first day of each month (in your local time zone).

If the computer regularly sleeps or is shutdown, it is possible that the scripts will never run. Using a program like Onyx once a week will make up for it.

I wonder how many people leave their computer on (not even in sleep) 24 hours a day? Isn't that wasting power? If not, what's the point of sleep?
