I have an imac with the ssd and hdd option, the initial installation was done with the user and apps on the ssd everything else is on the hdd, im looking to do a reinstall, will the regular reinstallation process put things back like that or will i end up with everything on the hdd?

1. If you have two separate drives, then you can install OS X onto whichever one you want. Or both.

2. If you have a Fusion drive, or make one, you need never worry about this sort of thing again.

3. Why do you want to reinstall? It's rarely necessary as a troubleshooting tactic. There's usually a host of things to try first which will involve less time, effort and wear.

Just a general few little niggles and having recently used CleanMyMac 2 and lost functionality of a few safari extensions. :(

Reinstalling the OS is massively over-kill for this.

At the very least: create a brand new user and test the problem there. If everything works fine, then you know the OS is not to blame. Return to your old user account, and try emptying caches and deleting some relevant preference files in the user Library folder.

If you did reinstall the OS and restore your data, that's probably the net effect anyway.
