Reinstall Mac OS in order to reset an Adobe CC issue & Time Machine

Hi All,
I have an Adobe CC issue that's been going on for months and a complete Adobe delete and reinstall didn't fix it. Pretty sure it has to do with some sort of network activity when Illustrator or Photoshop or Indesign launch. Basically, grinds everything to a halt for several minutes. I figure it's system related as my installation on my laptop is fine.

So, fist step is Backup.... the only Option I have is to backup to a Seagate central network Drive which I have done via TM.

I'm assuming that if I do a "Restore from TM" that it might bring back in whatever issue I had in the first place. So I need a clean system either way.

The worry I have is if I do a complete clean install or do I do a "Reinstall MacOS" will I be able to pull back in my documents folder from my TM backup to the Seagate Central?

Reason I'm worried is that I cannot access the TimeMachine Backup folders via finder like I could If I backed up to a standard External HD. The Seagate drive hides it. Should I simply be able to access my last backed up Documents folder via TimeMachine and copy/paste from that?

First, have you tested in a new User to see if your problems go away with a clean User settings?

CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Users & Groups.
Switch to the New User by logging out under the Apple in the Menu Bar.
Log into the new User.
You can skip logging in with an Apple ID. Hit continue then skip.

Only Apple apps will be in the Dock.
Go to Applications.
Open your Adobe app.

Do you still see the issue?

If yes, then the problem is with your base files.
If no, then the problem is in your User's folder.


You might find a clone backup to be easier to manage. If you don't have a clone backup it's time to start. Just like a seat belt and an air bag protect you in different ways when driving, you need both Time Machine and a clone for full protection.

A clone is an exact bootable copy of your internal drive. Unlike standard copying of all files to another drive, the clone software copies hidden files along with other in-use files that are not available when you copy over files to another drive.that is now includes a recovery drive that is bootable. .

Yea, tried new user already so it's an issue with base system.
Yea actually CCC! Dunno why I forgot about that. Might have an issue with Room on External but I'll look into it now and get one done.

I'm leaving a few hours tonight to try to resolve this.

Just to follow up on this.
Re-install did not fix the adobe issue BUT a clean install did.
