Reinstall Mac OS X

After trying doing an install & Archive, did not work, when it was finishing doing some script (supposed to last no longer than 1 minute) it crashed, I left it over night and nothing happened.... I am tired of doing all this stuff for nothing, therefore I decided to reinstall the complete OS X... but have no idea on how do I do this?
Do I have to boot from the Disc 1? If I put it in it ask me to insert disk to as it is trying to finish the install & archive...!!
How can I make the process of I & A stop and start the installation the full OS X and system from scratch?

Please, please I really appreciate your help....

I'm not sure I entirely understand what's going on.

Have you tried to boot directly from the CD by holding C while booting?

What's your machine, and what are its specs?
