Reinstall OS X Lion Server?

The best suggestion I can find is to do a complete wipe and reinstall everything.

I just want to reinstall it over the old server, because some of the files became corrupt. I tried to delete the Server app with App Cleaner which deleted a bunch of files with it, but when I try to reinstall the Server app it just loads, ask me to pick a computer/server to work with, and then just hangs. Its worse than before because now I can't even get into the app properly, and just wish to reinstall over that app.

Backup personal data.
Reboot, hold down Option while booting.
Boot to Lion Recovery partition.
Use Disk Utility to erase your HDDS.
Reinstall Lion then Server ( needs Internet, takes a long time )

A clean install is best. It will install the newest version which is more stable. If you don't erase it will just install over top and keep dirty files.

Alright, I reinstalled. Now OS X server is working, my site is up, php is enabled, and I installed MySQL Server and MySQL Workbench. Socket files appear to be missing, but I can still connect to the database through Netbeans. However, when I access my PHP login page, the PHP markup along the header of the page. This means OS X Lion server is not finding my MySQL Database. Any ideas?

Hi,

I wish to reinstall the OS X Lion server in my work as the previous administrator has left. As I am fairly new to attempting this, I was curious what you meant by "Reinstall Lion then Server"?

At the moment, I have the Lion installer and I also have the server.app file. Would I install Lion and then simply run server.app to setup and run the server?

my.cnf:

socket = /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock (or whatever)

Why would (any part of) OSX need to find you MySQL DB? It looks more like a problem in you PHP app.


As always: if something is not working, check the log file. Find the root cause. Understand the error message. Then fixing it will be simple.
