Ok so I installed the first DP on a separate hard drive and now I am ready to install on my regular hard drive. When I go into the Mac Store it says that it is already downloaded and when I go to my developer account it says my code has already been used! How can I "redownload" DP1 and install so I can update to DP2? Hope this question makes sense!

I make a copy of every installer so I have it handy.
I think you can Option click on it to re-download. I'm not really sure.

DP1 should show up in your purchases tab in the mac app store. You can redownload it from there, install and update to DP2.

I thought there was an error too  , but because you have already downloaded it once from the Mac Dev Centre, you can't redeem that same code again. IIRC the code is used for the initial download/install for DP1 as there are no separate downloads in the MDC for the DP2 update. All updates are done through MAS updates. It should show up in your purchased app tab as - tywebb13 - already mentioned.

Here's the mail I received:

OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 2 is now available via Software Update. Add powerful new functionality throughout OS X Yosemite with app extensions, explore the innovative new Swift programming language, and take advantage of advances in game technologies, Safari, iCloud, and more.

If you are not yet running a previous version of OS X Yosemite Developer Preview, get a redemption code from the Mac Dev Center to download it from the Mac App Store.

Sign in to the Mac Dev Center

Still no clue why you can't see it in your MAS tab. Good luck.

Yes it shows there but the button is grayed out and says "downloaded"!

Tried logout and login again in MAS with Apple ID?

~ Cheers

Haven't tried that yet. Will try when I get home tonight. It's weird someone else hasn't had this issue. The reason I installed on an external was I wanted to wait for the first update and then install on my main drive. Hopefully the log out/log in will make DP1 downloadable again!

logged out and back in and I still have a grayed out downloaded button! has it been confirmed that you have to have DP1 installed to install DP2?

update: in case anyone runs into the same prolem, I emailed apple and they reset the download in my mac store. thanks for those that tried to help!

now after all that I am rethinking loading it onto my main hard drive :D. not because of this issue but because the three days just gave me sometime to think about it. i was all ready to do it three days ago but now I am hesitant......1st world problems! lol

I thinks it's better not to install any DP or beta OS on your main driver. You may face any unpredictable strange errors.

What method did you use to email Apple? I'm just curious, as I am a registered developer, and am also having issues re-downloading the developer preview (I misplaced my original "Install OS X 10.10 Developer Preview" file).
