Please forgive my lack of knowledge and apologies if this has been covered to death, did a search learned a little but not exactly my problem. I just got a powerbook 3400c yesterday(old yes I know but ya can't beat free
) and seemed to have messed it up already, The OS (which was 8.1) won't boot, I just get the dreaded flashing "?". I assume it's a corrupted file system. Tried command-option-p-r, 4x's and did nothing. It didn't come with any system software so I cannot run any utilities.
I tried making a bootable Mac floppy of Network_Access_Disk_7.5 and DiskToolsPPC (which supposedly allows you to repair the file sysyem) with everything from transmac to Macdrive, the powerbook would just eject the floppy everytime, meaning it obviously wouldn't read in the powerbook. Tried different floppies, and the powerbook has 2 seperate ejectable floppy drives, either of which would boot the floppy.
Found Mac OS 7.5.3 as a free download, how would one go about installing this when I cannot boot from floppy or make a bootable cd in windows!!??
Do I need to find someone with an similar mac to make me a startup disc or burn a bootable cd?
