I just changed the disk on my ole´ ibook G4 800mhz and set to reinstall OSX. Figured I should use the install disk from my new MBP C2D, but when booting from the install disk I get the error "unble to find driver for this platform".

Does this mean I need an older version of OSX, or is it just that I need to push a certain key while booting or something similar?

Thanks a lot for help, I really appreciate getting this thing working as I just payed a lot to get it fixed :apple:

You cannot use the restore disks from one machine on another. They are licensed for the machine they came with only. Apple put checks in to ensure they only work on the class of machine they shipped with so MBP disks will only work on MBPs.

Plus, iBooks are PPC, MacBooks are Intel. The MacBook CD's contain the intel version of OS X (not universal), so won't work on the PPC anyway.

Thanks a lot. I thoought so. Now off to find me a ppc-osx version...
