Previous post:
I made this smoking simulator app a couple of months ago for fun, thinking that it would be a great gag app and people would want to buy it. Apple apparently didn't think so.
I've put a short video of it up on youtube, so that at least people will know that it existed and hopefully the video will provide people with some amusement

Nice effect but i can totally understand why apple would reject something related to smoking.

I think the effect is very cool, and well made. It really shows off the phones capabilities. I'm not a smoker, but to show it off, I'd get this.

As far as Apple rejecting it for smoking... This app is NOT OK, but iBeer, and alcohol based apps ARE OK? wow...

Maybe if you re-imagine the app, add the "TRUTH" logo to it, and make little skulls appear in the smoke, making it an anti smoking app, they would pass it.

That is ridiculous if it indeed was rejected solely because it simulated smoking. Last I checked smoking wasn't illegal...Apple, this is a weak move

Wow after watching that video smoking seems so cool, I'm going to go buy myself a packet of cigarettes.

Imitational teens and small children are the reason why your app wasn't allowed.

It's defiantly cool and Apple probably has no reason to reject it but I must ask, and this goes to all developers..why not spend your time creating something that will actually build the iPhone into a worth wild device? I mean, do we really need another silly app that really does nothing? But, nice I do like the effects. :p

What was the reason for rejection, post the email.

iBeer(and others) were released when the iPhone was new and Apple wanted more apps on the phone. Now they have a nice base and maybe they are realizing they have to be a little more picky of the app store will be filled with beer/smoking apps, tip calculators and shopping lists.

The question to ask here is which rule or rules of the Apple agreement is this application violating?

Application rejection should depend entirely on that. Otherwise, a developer can spend a lot of time working on something that can be rejected based on not-clear and not-specific (and subjective) reasons.

They have a set of rules, people can break them and hope their app makes it but every app I've seen rejected has been because it broke one of the rules. Now, with this app I'm not sure because the OP didn't post the reason apple sent, for all we know it could break a rule and thus the rejection.

That was cool. Too bad Apple rejected it. I am trying to quit so maybe this could have helped me out. You know the psychological addiction part to it, but without the nicotine. ;)
That is what I was thinking when I watched the video.

You need to make a rated G version, like a bubble blower or a dragon blowing fire.

This app was probably rejected for the same reason those candy cigarettes are not sold anymore. I can just see it; Apple computers sued because they made customer want to smoke tobacco.

the dragon blowin fire idea would be really cool. I highly doubt that would get rejected.

I just saw whole cases of candy cigarettes for sale at a candy shop in the mall recently......
