iMacs used to look good inside?

Then:

Hey, that's my baby you're talking about. Maybe she's not so cute inside, but she's mine, and I love her. Just as much as her other siblings here.

Except maybe the 12" PB... that thing's a little bunny. Almost too cute.

Here and there!
What I've heard is that Apple had a choice between cooling and looks for the Rev. C G5 and Rev. A Core Duo iMacs...they chose cooling. If they'd chosen looks, many of you would be whining about how hot your iMacs were running, and how loud they were, like you did for the A and B revisions of the G5. It's a tradeoff that I, for one, am quite happy to make.

I wish IBM could have made the G5 competitive with Intel. I dig the fact that I'm running a PowerPC in my Mac. And I love the UNIX foundation for OS X as well. Some retard I read the other day was slamming Apple for sticking with UNIX - as well as Steve's black turtle neck shirts

Yes I agree. The good looks come at a cost and cooling is a big issue. Now that the machines are faster cooling will be more of an issue. As for me I agree with some others that have stated that it really doesn't matter what the inside looks like inside. As long as it isn't really messy, and the design is different but I don't think it is really messy. I suspect those with the machine are happy with how it performs.

I agree. I just care about how fast it is.
Indeed.

I think part of it is that the current iMacs are not user-accessable like the previous ones. As such, Apple probably doesn't care how it looks inside because for the most part only Mac techs will be looking at the insides.

Of course you aren't really giving the whole story because the g5 picture is of its back and the intel is of its front...
Yes but the G5 is designed to be opened from the back and the intel iMac is designed to be opened from the front. So I think the comparison is a fair one.

makes me really wonder what the Power Mac successor will look like inside. they gotta bring the case size down a bit. are the Intels are gonna require the ridiculous cooling of the G5s? i remember when i first got my dual G5 i was showing it to someone and they were like "whoa, so you can probably fit like 12 hard drives in there, huh?". um, no...two. "oh but you can have a few optical drives at least i bet." um nope...one.

that thing was all chips and cooling fans. i just hope the inside doesn't turn into the gross north bridge/south bridge ribbon cable and twisty tie fest you see on so many PC motherboards. i doubt it. uh, right?
