No location-based reminders on 3GS. The GPS in the 3GS is an older chip, uses a lot more power than the GPS in the 4 / 4S. Location reminders were enabled for 3GS in early iOS5 Betas, but apparently did not work out well so it was pulled.

On that note, has geofencing worked for anyone on the 4S? I haven't been able to get it to work successfully (i.e. leaving or arriving at home). I double checked that location services, wifi, and the reminder are set up correctly.

I thought geo reference reminder was only US right now.

Mine work really well on the 4S. California

I also thought that it's Either by date or location. Not both.

Works fine here in UK too.

You can set both, at the bottom of the "Remind Me" screen it explains it, "On Oct 17, you will be reminded when you leave this location, or by 4:00 PM that day at the latest".

I had this issue on my 4 but as it turned out I could click the > next to the date and on the next screen turn on location services as well. I think the UI is just poor. (however, perhaps it isn't on in Sweden?)

The UI is horrible and very unlike Apple. That said, they are working well for me. Would love to be able to set locations that are not in my address book. Solved that by adding several stores I shop at a lot to my address book. Was very cool as I drove by Home Depot to be reminded that I need a can of spray paint and a filter for my shop-vac.
