Thankfully, when I first opened the Reminders app after upgrading to iOS13 I read the warnings and did not upgrade them to the latest version; However, i am now terrified i might upgrade them by mistake at some point and be forced to upgrade to Catalina on all my Macs just to recover this functionality.
In the ”home page” of the Reminders app, next to “My Lists” there is a threatening blue UPGRADE button that could be touched very easily by mistake.

Does anyone know if a further confirmation is required if mistakenly pressed?

Also, is there any rumour of Apple actually upgrading the Mojave Reminders app at any point?

What on earth were they thinking with this one?

They were thinking exactly what they had always been thinking - "users are stupid, but if we force them to do what we want the way we want, they'll eventually see the light".
This philosophy, however cynical, has actually proved to work quite well for them. And they will get away with it this time as well. Because while launching a feature that depends on Catalina one month before the launch of Catalina itself does indeed look like a clumsy move, I'm sure that once Catalina is here this little nuisance will be quickly forgotten.

I did NOT upgrade the Reminders app in IOS13, the "upgrade" blue button is still there, and now none of my reminders that sync via exchange/Office365 are syncing between iPhone IOS13.1.2 and Macbook running 10.14.6.... Pretty annoyed, as I use them extensively every day and now I have different items on each device that are not syncing with each other.

That sucks. Thankfully they are still syncing with my 10.14.6 Macs.

As long as you are willing to upgrade to Catalina.

I have only recently upgraded to Mojave. I upgrade MacOS only after careful consideration; usually only a few months before the next MacOS version is released and it has firmly established that none of my apps, tools and interfaces will be broken by the new OS.
