Just wondering how could I access my home/office computer from abroad, I also have a NAS but it's an old Q-NAP and it is very complicated to make it available from outside own network, it used to work flawlessly but they changed something and it is not possible any longer so I am trying to figure if there is a way, like with Remote Desktop, to create an access given the IP of my internet connection is dynamic.

Grazie

tailscale

install it on all your devices, log in, and you're connected.

It can act as a subnet router (allows you to access other devices on you home network), and an exit node (allows you to exit to the internet, so your remote phone uses your home network to exit to the web)

there are apps for appleTV, phones, Macs. May even be one for qnap, synology has one.
an appleTV will function as both a subnet router and exit node.

anything that's signed into your tailscale will have a unique address, so qnap.tail*******.ts.net. Or with subnet router you can just use the IP address for the qnap on your home network.
There is a web interface, that lets you see what all is signed into your account, and the IPs you can reach it on.

your public IP will never come into play.

That is what I use. Whilst Tailscale is beautifully simple to those with a decent network understanding, the slightest issue is unsurmountable to those without that understanding.

JumpDesktop - super easy
I like Jump

There is also TeamViewer which is free for personal use.
TeamViewer

I second Tailscale; it's an amazing product. It lets you easily access all your devices from anywhere, securely. I use it with Apple Remote Desktop when I need to connect to my M4 Pro at home while on the go.

How does Jump pricing work for individuals? Do I just buy the app or is it a monthly fee?
You buy Jump Desktop. Mac App Store or direct from Jump. No subscription.

The cost is one reason Team Viewer is popular (and free) for personal use. I think Jump is better.

Would the one time purchase cover if I want to remote into my Mac from a Windows machine?

I installed Tailscale on my home computer, now I am abroad, if I open my MacBook terminal and ssh with the user and ip address provided by Tailscale I can access the computer, wondering if there is a graphical interface or a way to use one as with Remote Desktop, for instance if I open RD and try to control the remote computer I get an error message that avoids the connection while on the terminal I can, for example, type ls and get the directories content, any clue?

Grazie

p.s. hitting command K and typing remote ip address I can enter the computer and, apparently perform finder tasks, wondering if there's a way to replicate the desktop
