I don't get it:
iTunes is streaming music and movies to my ATV. The Remote app is paired to the iTunes library and ATV library. If I have the ATV library selected in Remote, I don't see any of my iTunes library content--no music, no playlists, no movies, no nothing.

But if I have a song playing on ATV, I do see the cover art and song info.

So, it seems like Remote is at least somewhat connected to ATV. . .but why won't it see my streaming library?

I had this working just last week, but had to rebuild my iTunes library and reset my network connection. This is the last piece of the puzzle to having everything dialed in like it was before.... help?

I know that's not true, as I had it working with streamed content last week...

Welcome to the Internet, where people will supply, with confidence and authority, information which is completely and utterly untrue.

A.

Maybe you had your AppleTV set to "sync" rather than "stream" before.

I have my AppleTV set to stream from my computer and if I use the remote app to connect to the AppleTV, it will only see the videos I have downloaded through the AppleTV. It won't take the next step and allow me to choose what to stream from the computer to the tv. If I change my remote to see the library on my computer and set the output to the AppleTV, then I can control what is streaming.

I've been confused by this issue thinking I was controlling my shared iTunes library from the :apple:TV when in fact I'm controlling the iTunes and the music is coming from the :apple:TV airtunes speaker.

I can confirm that you won't see any content using the iPhone remote if the :apple:TV is set to stream content.

We only stream content from one if our ATV (no media at all local on ATV) and remote app works....well sometimes...it seems to crash out frequently.

So that's 1 more for it will definitaly allow streamed media selection on the remote app.

Sometimes we get a check firewall popup error,and/or library not found, but with no changes to the network at all it can work fine if I force close the app and restart it

Good luck, please post back if you find a solution ;)

HOw do you set the output to the Apple TV?

OK, I figured out: set :apple:TV to stream, not sync. Pair the Remote app to that iTunes library, and voila, you will be able to control all of the media streaming to your :apple:TV using Remote.

The problem that I had previously was that :apple:TV was set to Custom Sync, and I had no music, movies, or TV shows synched over, so no content was appearing in my Remote app.
