Hello, trying to use remote app on iPhone to 'airplay' to my TV, getting there slowly but......
All video content is playing back to my laptop whilst audio will stream to my plasma.
Why wont visual footage stream?

I'm on ATV v1 3.0.2
Macbook pro 13"
iTunes 10.2.1

Thanks

ATV1 doesn't support airplay, it supports streaming from a mac, but not iDevices.

OK, point taken, many thanks for the reply.
Next issue - I cant get the app to work as a full on remote for ATV.....scrolling around the interface, typing, youtube etc any ideas.

It will operate iTunes on my laptop tho?......

I just got an iPod Touch and it took me a while to figure out what I needed to do to get it to control my ATV1. A Google search led me to the following link:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1947

Here's an excerpt:
Apple TV (1st generation)

1. Connect iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to a Wi-Fi network that is connected to the local network that your Apple TV also connected to.
2. Open the Remote app on your mobile device.
3. Select Add an iTunes Library in the Remote settings screen. Remote will then display a 4 digit passcode.
4. On Apple TV, select Settings from the main menu, select General and then Remotes.
5. Select the name of your iPhone or iPod touch.
6. Enter the 4 digit passcode. Use the volume up/down keys on the Apple Remote (Infrared) to change the number that is displayed and the track next/back keys to switch digits.
7. Click Done.

Remote app will be paired with Apple TV and you can begin browsing your library using Remote and select a piece of content to play.

I would be very happy to be wrong about this, but I do not believe the remote app does the things you want. It can mirror the library menus and allow you to play, pause and select tracks/movies, but I don't think it works as a remote keyboard, nor can it be used as a cursor to navigate the ATV on-screen menus.

I've only had my iPT for a week or so, so still pretty new. However, I'm pretty sure the latest version of the Remote app will let you navigate the on screen menus. There's a page called CONTROL that I believe allows to to actually use the on screen menus from the iPT. (I've been using mine outside, so can't see the TV anyway; haven't verified this 100%)

Yes it can. I have an ATV1 and use Remote on my iPad and iPod Touch to drive it. There is a mode where your ipod becomes essentially a touch pad for the ATV and you can navigate and when you do a search on YouTube the keyboard comes up. Much quicker than using the normal white remote.
