I have been enjoying the Mac Server we installed for our company. It has been easy to have employees remote connect from home using their Macs.

But I have employees that have PCs that would also like to access files from home and I haven't had any luck finding information on how to do that. Even the Mac OS X Server training book I bought doesn't have any information.

Can anyone tell me the best way to connect to a Mac Server remotely using a PC? I'd like the share points to show up as a networked drives just as they do when connecting locally.

Thanks for looking this over.

And I'm upset that Bonjour doesn't work over VPN so my Mac doesn't see the systems on the LAN!

When I want to remotely access from a Windows machine I use WinSCP and have SSH service enabled on the server. It may not be as polished as the systems appearing in Windows Explorer, but it does work!

I admin an OS X Server 10.5.8 and have PC and Mac users remotely connect via VPN. PPTP seems to work better for Windows clients, but L2TP can be used as well. I personally found L2TP to be somewhat challenging to set up on Windows XP. Mac clients can use either PPTP/L2tp without issue.

Is there a setup guide available for setting up VPN in OSX SL Server? Specifically what ports I need to forward?

It's actually in the SLS documentation. I've got all the files installed and just use Spotlight to search.

You need to forward UDP 500, 1701, and 4500 for L2TP.
