Hi,

Is there any way to access and control my mac from an ipad? If they're on the same wifi network, is it possible to open/close windows on my mac from the ipad?

I am using Splashtop for mine, works really well. Needs a subscription if you want access from outside your network but it is free for within the same network.

If you're using it on your local network, enable "System Preferences/Sharing/Screen Sharing", download realvnc viewer on your ipad, and connect to the ip address of your mac.

realvnc - personal use up to 5 devices remotely, unlimited locally.

Teamviewer is bloated for what it is.

I have tried them all.
My favorite is realvnc (lowest latency, especially if you do typing). But the way Jumpdesktop (not free) is very similar. And Jump is the only one that supports a mouse.
Teamviewer is free, but as soon as you start using several devices (like 4-5), especially in a short period of time it will start popping messages saying that they suspect commercial use and will stop you connection after a few minutes
Splashtop is the best for remote video watching (highest framerate, but not lowest latency) but it's free only at home
Chrome Remote is free from any restrictions and is my second favorite just for this reason.
Anydesk is pretty good too, but the ios interface is not great and may act like teamviewer if you use too many devices...

I am not sure what you are trying to express here. Can you rephrase?
i found an app on the ipad store, called "remote" made by "typhoon software" the icon is green with a mouse in the graphic. i installed that app, visited the website with the name "typhoon" and downloaded that to the macmini.
i since deleted the app, no need because the mini is in a box, leaving me alone! that app was good did what i needed.
