Simple question, what do I need to access a computer I have access credentials over the internet? I have access to the remote computer in the sense that I enabled remote access onto it and have both a login and password, how do I get to connect to it off a different network through the internet?

Thank you

If both computers are Mac, and your profile is logged in on both with the same iCloud AppleID with Back to My Mac enabled, you can access each computer through Back to My Mac. You will find the "other" Mac in Finder, click Share Screen to access it.

Alternately, if they are not both Macs, use something like TeamViewer which is free for personal use. Install TV on both, setup unattended access, and as long as TV is running on the remote machine, you can login.

There are not doubt many other solutions, but here are two.

Basically it's another Mac where I already enabled remote access but it's not on my same network, I think I have the iCloud account data to access it and this could be a solution but was wondering, say, I have a friend who needs me to remotely get into his Mac, what should be enabled other than permission to access it in the preferences pane?

Thank you for your suggestion

Mac has two ways of doing remote desktop. As described above with Back To My Mac (two computers logged in with the same iCloud account). The second can be done through Messages with any iCloud user.

Using messages, any iCloud user logged in on a Mac can invite you to share their desktop, or you can see them to share theirs. In the upper right of a dialog with the user, click Details and there should be 3 icons. The first is two rectangles (Screen Sharing). When you do this, it starts a voice FaceTime call over the connection as well as sharing the desktop.
