If you have a passcode on your iphone and you remote wipe it does it remove the passcode?

If it does, imagine this:

1) You lose your iphone and the message alert fails to get it back.

2) The 'new' owner has no access to the iphone because it is locked. A useless iPhone.

3) Now you remote wipe it and the new owner now has an empty new iPhone. Fair enough your private data has been wiped, but it was passcoded anyway.
