I have a 2011 Mac-Mini running Yosemite. My brother in another country has an upgraded (Core 2 due 2.00 ghz, 2 gb ram) mac-mini running Snow Leopard. He is not very familiar with Mac O/S X and occasionally requires help. I need guidance on how to connect remotely to my brother's mac-mini, take control of the system and perform minor configuration changes whenever required.

Here is another vote for TeamViewer.

For me, TV installed and worked without issues. The software has a simple interface that is easy to manage.
