I need help on this please. I am finding nothing by searching here or on the web.

I had to install Citrix Receiver on my MBP for my job to launch their apps when working from home. We have since been given an "on call" Windows laptop so I no longer need Citrix Receiver on my personal MBP. I am having an issue removing all traces of Citrix. I have uninstalled Citrix Receiver, the program no longer shows in my Launchpad, the icon no longer shows in my top task bar, but I cannot seem to remove the traces of it.

When I go to 'Finder' and lookup Citrix there is a folder with files left over. I move it to the trash and empty the trash. Its gone...next time I reboot my MBP the Citrix Receiver files are back.

How can I completely rid my MBP of Citrix Receiver?

BTW, I am on the latest MacOS version.

Best post I’ve found on the topic:

Compliments of @GGJstudios
[doublepost=1524663601][/doublepost]I use AppCleaner and am happy with it, but he method above is probably more thorough and doesn’t involve installing additional software.

Have you tried downloading the latest version of Citrix Receiver (12.9.1)? It features an uninstall app for Citrix Receiver.

I am having the same issue. I have tried downloading the latest version but it will not let me. Even went into terminal to try and delete it and it gives me a permission denied.

It looks like I am going to have to do a clean install to clear it out.

I ended up erasing my MacBook and doing a clean install of macOS High Sierra.

Citrix is garbage, especially on a Mac.

Thats what im about to do.
If you dont mind me asking how did you back up your information.
Any issues with transferring iMessage history over? Thats my biggest concern with doing a clean install.
I dont want to lose my iMessage history/archive.

I have my iMessage backup turned on through my iPhone and on my MacBook. Once I installed the clean copy of High Sierra and signed in with my iCloud credentials, my iMessages showed on my MacBook, along with my Photos, Music, and and documents from Files app.

I don't really save anything to my MacBook itself, everything is in the cloud so I don't have to worry about losing data when doing a clean install. I just had to re-install a few apps and customize my settings again.

Edit: I now have Windows 10 on my MacBook via Boot Camp, so whenever I need to use Citrix for work, I use it strictly on Windows. Never again on a Mac...

Thanks for the response. I was thinking of backing up all my messages this way as well. I just dont like the idea of deleting a message thread one place and it deleting everywhere else.

The way I have it now is if i delete a thread on my phone its still saved and stored on my mac.

In your example, is there a way for you to save the iMessage history back onto your mac hard drive?

To best describe my issue was this https://www.reddit.com/r/techsuppor...process_citrix_service_record_application_is/

I couldn't kill this thread. When i tried to go into terminal to delete it, I got a permission denied request. Very strange and alarmingly how they make it so difficult to remove.

So much for "just drag the application to the trash". :p

Why are Mac users still spreading this myth?

Citrix Receiver installs using Apple's own Installer utility which is part of Mac OS. So why isn't the uninstall functionality included in the operating system?
