Hi chaps, ive been through the fourms and it seems im screwd.
So before i get flamed i do know i cant upgrade my iphone 5 which is currently on 6.0.

I have tried shift+restore and tried 6.1.2 ipsw but get the 3194, which was expected. I can delete the host file and do a proper update.

Heres why - I have to go into the apple shop tomorrow for a hardware fault and wanted to know if i have any other options apart from having to restore to the latest version to get rid of the jailbreak?

i dont mind staying/upgrading/downgrading to any jailbreakable ios versions but didnt really want to go on the 6.1.4 just in case i get this phone back and not a replacement.

any help/advice would be appreciated.

do they need to access your file system in order to fix your hardware?

if not just revert your homescreen to the ugly iOS stock and password lock it. they shouldn't access your phone and private information without your authorization.

if you need to demonstrate certain behaviour run ilex rat, hide the cydia icon and show them what is wrong with it. then lock it.

Well, i did consider that BUT last time my iphone 4 broke, no wifi, the chap at the apple store said we will give you a replacement but you need to do a factory reset here, just so that you know nobody will get any of your info. security and what not.

He made me do it while i was there before i got the new one. Which wasnt a problem back then.

If i do a factory reset with this one i will just be stuck in a loop.

well if he tells you to reset the phone then and there you could always tell him that you will need to go home first and backup everything first. reschedule the appointment for a later date.

you have nothing to lose. you CANNOT get rid of evasi0n without updating iOS.
