Remove iMac from "Find My Mac?"

Is there any way to remove my iMac from this feature and only use it for my iPhone? I don't see any reason to use this feature for a desktop computer. I feel like it just makes me more vunerable for a wipe and lock out if my iCloud account were hacked. See here,

System Prefeneces -> iCloud -> uncheck the box for Find My Mac

Will I still be able to use the feature for my iPhone? I'm at work now so I can't test it. Thanks.

Yes, if the only devices you have are an iMac and an iPhone, and the the Mac is switched off, only your iPhone will show up in the Find My iPhone.
