I have almost all of my photos tagged with a person's name in MacOS Photos (iCloud Photos) and I had a few situations where I misspelled a persons name.

While I was able to correct the name, MacOS Photos still shows the misspelling as a potential person when I perform a smart album lookup.

Does anyone know how to correct misspelled names so that they sync correctly across iCloud devices? I found a fix from the Apple community which includes editing the photos.db file using SQLlitebrower however that only addresses the fix locally. These changes do not replicate to iCloud across all devices.

As a test I deleted my library from my Macs and recreated them using iCloud. I see the misspelled names still show.

For example, if I tagged someone as "Joe" but spelled it wrong as "Jo" I see both options as being available when I search names using a Smart Album. How do I permanently delete "Jo" so its removed from my libraries?

You could try this. I've had some success with it in the past.

Merge the two names by dragging 'Jo' onto 'Joe'. You will be asked if they are the same person. Doing this keeps the name of the person you are dragging onto (I think that is right!). In other words, 'Joe' will be kept and 'Jo' will disappear.

Hello, yes I had tried that and it works but this is what I found. While "Jo" goes away, if I create a smart album and I select people, I see the photos still has an option for "Jo". I can't find a way to purge the misspelled names
