Hey peeps, I'm writing this from the uk where the current update for apple tv has forced a useless piece of junk on none sports fans (more importantly it appears to be irrelevant to uk sports fans as well)

Does anyone know how to remove MLB.tv from our normally rather useful boxes?

Normally I wouldnt be so bothered by an additional feature I won't use, for example I don't use flickr or mobile me, yet this US centric app has appeared at the top of the list (where the invaluable YouTube) used to sit.

If only apple would hear my cries of irritation and drop it down the list.

Any ideas people would be greatly appreciated.

Well said and I'd also love to remove reference to this irrelevant & uninteresting new content.

In fact, the new update has killed sound output from my atv so I'd love to roll back to the previous software anyway.

Not everyone from the UK hates Baseball. Although, I do agree that there should be some kind of ability to change what appears on the main menu.

I would also say that the mere presence of the MLB.tv and NBA apps, are encouraging for British sports fans as hopefully they will open the eyes of the FA and RFU to what they can do to provide their own apps.

I'd happily pay to watch all of the Southampton, Wasps, England Rugby, Mets and Knicks games on an Apple TV.

Hmmm mm

I wasn't insinuating that baseball is hated here in the uk, but giving it centre stage is beyond unreasonable. I find it hard to believe that the premiership will ever appear, considering their online presence and availability is fragmented by network, unlike MLB.tv which was already offer a dedicated web portal.

I've already had to explain to several people today what it is (MLB.tv) hopefully this will subside once all my visitors have encountered it.

Why thrust this upon us who do not want it top of the list.

I can envisage BBC iplayer being added soon, but only stateside as there are plans for a subscription service there.

Isn't apple tv governed by the same terms as the app store with regards to subscriptions? Seems odd that it asks for you to register and pay for it on a now apple website, how can this be part of the 'ecosystem' we are accustomed to?

I agree with the idea of moving it down the list a bit, its annoying that it takes the Youtube spot.
I personally will never use it, it's amazing how such a dull game became a national sport :p but asking for it to be removed i don't, there ay be people who use it, and if we start asking for stuff to be removed in the uk, will we just not see any more updates?
P.

Good point ptaylor9

Agreed ptaylor9, let's not rock the boat too much, just a little bit of control of list order, its probably just at the top to show us all what's new...

I'm sure we'll have list control once the menu starts scrolling off screen with services.

As u can probably tell my annoyance is starting to subside.

My own personal resolution is to just stream everything from my computer to my iPad and then chuck it to the apple tv so I don't have to look at it... Working well so far!

i dont use netflix and a couple other apps on the atv. i dont use many apps that came preloaded on my iphone or ipad/ do i care that they are there? no i don't even see them anymore. i don't see the big deal. everyone has things they don't use on there ios devices. i have stuff i dont use on my imac too. who cares? if you dont click on it it is not really there. you will learn to look past it and not even pay attention to it anymore

apple is an american company, mlb is an american game and widely popular over here. only people from europe complaining about it on there. so buy a product by a company based in your country if you dont like the apple tv the way it is.

if apple was smart they would make a european version of the update and work out a deal with some of the professional sports in your country. but that seems unlikely anytime soon. i bet the deal with mlb was they had to have the app on the apple tv device. having it loaded on there might help bring in new subscriptions. rather then having to buy the app separately. now it is like 24/7 advertising which was smart on mlb's part if you asked me

Some might want to remove it, but I would actually like to move it to the #1. it's the only app currently being used on the :apple:TV for hours on end.

If you go under Settings > Parental Controls, there are options to not show other items like Netflix, Youtube, the iTunes Movies and TV rentals categories, etc. So maybe it was just an oversight. I would send some feedback if I were you with a suggestion to give these apps that option too.

Really?

An American company u say? Damn I never new that! Why on earth do they sell products here? Your argument is flawed blatantly...

Did u read the posts? It was a simple query to asertain wether it was possible to remove the annoyance...

It would be nice to have the ability to remove/change the order of the menu items.

As an avid baseball fan, I'm glad MLB.tv is included in the update. One of the few streaming options done properly in my opinion, greatly increasing the value of the Apple TV.

Hopefully Apple will get other sports added soon!

Perfect newagemac a great idea, exactly what I was looking for..

I'll try that when I get home, thanks!

because you will still buy it the way it is

I'll think you'll find I had already purchased my atv... This post was with regard to an update...
