I "googled" a method of removing one person from a text group, but it's not working.
Swiping left on the name doesn't bring up the delete option.
Can anyone help with this?

Is everyone one in the group text using an iPhone and has iMessages turned on?

Ran into an issue like this with a family group text where everyone had iPhones, but we couldn't add, remove or leave the group text. Come to find out that one person didn't have iMessages turned on.

One of them has a Samsung.
I found out that may be the problem.
What kind of stupidity did Apple show to not allow for a simple process?

Ah yeah, that would be it.

It is very annoying because you can't even remove yourself from the group text if you wanted to, yet alone adding or removing anyone else.

Haven't fixed it yet, just contacted Samsung owner to opt out of group, then I should be able to delete the other person that requested deletion.
What a hassle for what should be a simple feature.
This frys my eggs! o_O

I'll report back with progress when I have it (if I get it!:D).

Yeah can’t be done. The solution is to create a new text group without the people who want out of it, and move the conversation over to that new group.

Thank you!
That's what I'm gathering.
So until everyone 100% deletes the discussion premanently, it will float around indefinitely.
Kind of surprising.
Shortsighted & dumb as a system goes.

I have a similar issue. I have a group text with 11 people in it. I am guessing some members have an Android phone. I have to remove some people from this group but there is no option to delete their number from the group. I tried on my Mac as well.

I guess I have to create a new group to fix it. This is stupid.

The problem you run into with MMS, is that “there is no group.” It LOOKS like a group message on your iPhone, because iOS displays it like one. But with MMS there’s no “central repository” that manages who’s in the group and who isn’t. When anyone replies (via iOS or Android or other) their phone sees all the numbers in the conversation and creates a reply, to all those numbers. Anyone can decide to add in someone new, or remove someone old, at any time - but that only affects THAT message and direct replies to THAT message. Really there’s nothing iOS can do to prevent/change this behavior.

Rule of thumb… if someone (anyone) doesn’t have iOS, don’t use Messages. Use a 3rd party app. There are about a gajillion of them.
