Remove the Screen?

Ok, basically im wanting to ship my iMac G4 from Sweden to England (with me) and i have checked everything, and its ok to bring it on the plane cause no way is it going to be checked in, so it will be hand luggage, and the weight is fine to all that is sorted.

The only thing thats not sorted, is for it to conform to the size regulations on the hand luggage, it needs to be split in two. In other words, I need to take the screen off.

I figured, that i would just take apart the silver arm, and then there would be a bolt or something to take off and hey presto, so I tried this. BIG mistake, but after about an hour I managed to put it back together again.

SO finally I get to the point of this post.

Can you, and how do you, take the screen off from an iMac G4 (I think - its the half football one)

I would figure out a way to ship the thing, taking that arm off scares even some Apple Techs including myself! You have to open the dome,take the drives out, power supply, fan and then you have to re-apply thermal paste its a pain in the butt if you ask me. The first time I took mine off I didnt get the screen cable tight and had to take it all apart again.

so in laymans terms, its not easy, like it would be for say, a PC... (even I can take the monitor away from a standard PC )

Yeah, I do like mac's. They are more stable, lighter (weight wise) they are generally faster, and on the whole better. BUT they are not compatiable, and you cant remove the monitor from my one *grrr*

NOT To worry, I actually found a bag that the whole lot would fit in, UNILKE my PC at home lol.

Next question then, is networking, where should I post that? lol

EDIT: I did need 3 fags to calm down after I took apart the arm, then reasembled it, althou it was covered in blood (a number of things when it went *poof* and came apart managed to cut my hands) and I, well fouled myself (figure of speech lol)

I know what you meant, but damn, that is shocking to see here in the US. That means something entirely different.
