Hi everyone!

I find it kind of annoying that when I go into the Files app and I see the Downloads folder there. My preference is to have all downloads go into one location such as On My iPhone. This is just me. This is the way I prefer it to be.

I managed to go into Settings/Safari and point the downloads location to On My iPhone and seems to work just fine.
My question is, will this cause abnormal functionality if the Downloads folder is removed from the Files app?

Thank you!

Pretty sure it’s safe to remove. If you change your mind later, it will probably automatically reappear upon the first use.

Just noticed it myself when I was trying to delete one folder created by an app, inside Files
If the folder is empty , it still exist but it's not visible.
if you search it, it will appear but it's invisible and impossible to delete: I tried to put a doc inside
It appears back but it's impossible to delete, just what it's inside

Just deleted it fine…

I can also confirm that the Downloads folder is deleted. Also when doing a search for "Downloads" in the Files app, the results came up with No Results.

Just to confirm, will this cause any issues if the Downloads folder is deleted from the Files app?

No. I tested it both ways. If you delete either one it stays deleted until you re-enable the folder for downloads and actually perform a download.

You need to go to Settings/Safari and make sure or set Safari to point all downloads to On My IPhone.

I downloaded some files and it went straight to the On My iPhone without the Downloads folder reappearing again.

The trick is, that first you need to go set this up from Settings/Safari and then after that, delete the Downloads folder from the Files app.

If doing the other way around by deleting first the Downloads folder and then going to the Safari settings, then yes, the Downloads folder will automatically appear again.
