I have icons on my taskbar for apps that I no longer have on my iMac. I have removed the apps using AppZapper. Any suggestions as to how I can remove the icons?
Thanks

Tried a reboot?
If they still show after that then they haven't been removed properly.
Check your login items and remove the offending items.
Also do a spotlight search for "Appname" for the Apps you supposedly removed with system files included, and delete the remaining scraps.

Do you mean the menubar or dock?

For the menu bar: Try holding down the Command key and dragging the meubar icon out of the menu bar to remove it.

If it's the Dock, drag the icon out of the dock until a little puff of smoke appears, then release the mouse.

BTW, in mountain lion it seems to take a little longer for the puff of smoke to appear so just be patient.

If you're referring to the Menu Bar at the top of your screen, try holding the Command key and dragging them off.
I have removed the apps using AppZapper.
In most cases, app removal software doesn't do a thorough job of finding and removing files/folders related to deleted apps. For more information, read this and this. If you just want to delete the app, drag the .app file to the trash. No other software needed. If you want to completely remove all associated files/folders, no removal apps will do the job.

The most effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:

Unlike prior OSX versions... in ML you need to drag the icons from the dock "way up high". Then release.
