From what I've read, the bezel around the LCD is simply... stuck. Glued or adhered with some sticky substance. Anyone have an experience or recommendations to removing it? I know that it is fairly flimsy and can be bent if you're not careful, but is there anything else to look out for?

From what I've read on the official support PDF, I think there's no way to remove it. But I might be wrong.

I would reaaaaaaally love to replace the back of my screen with a newer one.

Edit: Ifixit sells the display piece as a whole, so I think it confirms that we cannot remove it: http://www.ifixit.com/MacBook-Parts/MacBook-Air-Display-Assembly/IF188-001

But ifixit's teardown of the MBA shows that they have. They're the ones that stated it was simply stuck and that they bent the bezel. Does anyone have any experience actually removing the bezel?

Do you think the screen size viewing will increase?

Seriously? That's a bit patronizing, don't you think?

I've got a few sheets of a high-quality matte film that is supposed to have a very low distortion rate. I keep trying to get it on there but I can't quite get it to sit right in the corners, ergo my desire to remove the bezel, plop the protector down, and put the bezel back in place.

No actually I don't. If you look at the photos from that link the screw harnesses are exposed once the bevel is exposed.

Now if you had started this thread by explaining that you planned on covering the bezel with your own, I wouldn't have searched the photos for you.
