i'm running dangerously low on space (54GB of Mp3's on a 60GB disk!) and i'm sure i have hundreds of songs in my itunes folder left over from when i've accidentilly hit 'No' on the delete files dialog after removing them from the playlist.

does anybody know how to find any files that may be residing in my itunes folder that aren't in the playlist (that dosn't involve re-importing the entire library) i'm running XP as a server for shared music, so no applescripts either unfortunatley :(

Cheers!

I would also like to know if this can be done easily, but you could follow these instructions to copy all your music to an external HD, then clean up your internal HD and once more use it to copy your music back.

I think the Consolidate Library only will copy over the music you have in the Library and not any of those who "got away"... ;)

My only large external drive is mac formatted, making formating/ copying a pain in the ass really.. itunes reports the library at 55.4GB while the actual size in explorer is 59.1GB thats a potential 3 and a half Gigs of un-listed tunes :-s

I think its time to buy another drive. :)

May be lengthy, but one way could be to import your library into iTunes. Everything still in there will stay the same, those not will be added. Then the task of going through every track and deleting the ones that got away starts.

if you add them all, like said above, then sort your library by date added (make sure you have it visable in options) by clicking on "Date Added". that way just delete the ones with todays date!

Didn't think of that view, as I never use that column. Capital idea Watson.

on a similar note, does anyone know how you can prevent that dialogue from showing with every deletion? its very annoying as i always want them to go to the trash.
