I've come to the realization that it [windows] is wasting space on my macbook. However, being quite the mac n00b, i'm having some difficulties.

When I go to /applications/utilities/boot camp assistant i am told
"Boot camp assistant cannot be used.- You must update your system software
before using this setup assistant."

There are no new software updates available and I tried reinstalling. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Tried checking to see if your disc need repairing? Boot up with install disc and hold down c. Then when setup begins choose your language, then click on utilities and choose disk utility. Run repair disk and see if it fixes anyhing.

Other than that I'm ??

It must have worked one time for you to install XP though right?
