Hi,

I've been having this bug since Yosemite.

Whenever I open a new Finder window and move it around, and then try to rename a file/folder, the text to rename appears misplaced.
It is appearing with the position of when I opened the Finder window, before I moved it around.

Anyone else having this problem? It has been driving me crazy for months and months now.

I don’t have that problem, sorry. Can you try this: create a new user account (System Preferences > Users) and see if you can reproduce the error there when you log into that account. You can completely delete the account again afterwards.

Thanks for the answer.

With the new user it works correctly, but it also works correctly with my current account after a restart.

I haven't been able to pin the problem to an specific action I make unfortunately.

I'm just bumping this once to see of anyone else is having this problem.

I can't be the only one.:(

Well it is difficult to narrow it down without knowing where to look. Is the Finder the only app where this sort of thing happens? At which point does it occur after a restart?

Makes sense to report it here as well: https://bugreport.apple.com

Thanks KALLT. I files a bug report at Apple.

I haven't been able to find when it starts. A restart normally fixes it for some time, but it always happens again. And just in Finder.

You can try a reset of Finder, if you’re willing to try. Copy and paste this into Terminal:
Code:
defaults delete com.apple.finder && defaults delete com.apple.sidebarlists && killall Finder
