Renaming the BootCamp Windows partition?

My wife installed BootCamp and Windows XP on her Macbook last night, and now when she boots into OS X, as well as her hard drive, the Windows partition appears on her desktop with a generic drive icon called NO NAME.

Is it safe to rename this and paste a custom icon over it, or will that screw Windows up entirely? We're both the kind of user that likes to customise icons and stuff, and this NO NAME drive is bugging us!

You can rename it, but I don't know whether a custom icon will "stick".

Note that if you've formatted it as NTFS, then you'll need to reboot in Windows in order to rename it.

Cool, we'll try it. It was formatted in FAT32.

there was some program....i think it was called MacBlaze? or something.
Anyway, I allowed me to change the pic and the name. The name wouldn't
"stick" but the icon did.

anyway, I had to reinstall windows, and now the windows icon doesn't even mount, so I don't even see it on the os x side. odd.

windows boots fine, just no icon. i did in ntfs too...

You have to boot into Windows to change it without screwing up anything.

1. Open "My Computer"
2. Right-click on the C drive
3. Select "Rename"
4. Type in a new name.
5. Press the Enter key
6. Reboot into OS X, the new name should show on the icon.
