I was watching a rental from itunes tonight and it occurred to me that not only can I watch it on my apple tv but on my iphone too and it is only one file... I have been annoyed by the fact that when i convert a file for apple tv using handbrake It looks great on the tv, but the file wont work on my iphone so then i have to copy the file to a iphone compatible format... but if the rentals can play on both then there must be a better way to convert movies to one high quality file that plays on both.. no? so does anyone know the itune rental file format?

M4V is the container. h.264/MP4 is the file format. I've bought movies and it's in that file format/container.
