Hey everyone,
My mid 2009 Mac Pro has begun to show it's age more and more, and unfortunately kernel panics are becoming a daily occurrence. I'm not sure what's causing them, but the only common denominator on almost all kernel panics is if I have a flash video up, or sometimes zoomed in on the screen (via the Control + feature in accessibility) Below is the latest log. If anyone could help me find the culprit, I'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

My MP 1,1 exhibits the same behavior with DVD Player and VLC. I found that heat is the ultimate cause. When I start getting kernel panics I have to blow out the dust in the CPU Coolers and RAM daughter cards. After That is done, I reset the PRAM. The MP is then happy for a while.

I hope this helps.

This is also the beginning indications of RAM failure. A RAM module finally failed a few months later and I had to replace it.

Thanks for the info! I'll give it a good clean out tonight and reset the PRAM.

Just an update for everyone having similar issues. After a trip to the Genius Bar, issue looks to be one of the two crappy GT 120 cards in the machine. Looks like one of the cards is failing, causing the panic. It's going to be $200 to replace, and the sad part about this whole thing is my Apple Care expired 3 weeks ago:( After talking to the Apple Care dept, they won't cover it.

Honestly, I'm a bit upset and disappointed in Apple. For as much as the machine cost, and the fact I bought the additional 3 year warranty and never brought it in, they should have given me the $200 for free. The warranty expired less than 30 days ago.

You could test your ram too. Typically you can tell a video card is going out when it begins to display artifacts. Also for $200 why not upgrade to a newer card?

^^^Nothing RAM related in KP log. And it doesn't have to be the graphics card itself. Below part of the log points on Nvidia drivers crash when using FluidApp:

BSD process name corresponding to current thread: FluidApp

It could be FluidApp poor compatibility with Nvidia drivers.

OP, do some extensive tests:
– use one graphics card at time
– try Nvidia web driver

Honestly, I'm a bit upset and disappointed in Apple. .

You don't have to pay Apple to put another video card in. Install a new, modern Nvidia PC card. A GTX 650 can be had for $100 and surely outperforms the GT120.
It's more fun to do it yourself.

Thanks for the info everyone!

I'll do a bit more testing to see if I can troubleshot this problem any further. If you have any other tips, or recommendations for a new Graphics Card, let me know!
