Hi guys, again I have a little question for you and I am sure it's not a hard one but for newbie like me ;-)
While my app is running I close my main window (of course the application hasn't been quit yet) and I want to reopen the window through a shortcut. Which would be the best way to do that? I already made a new menu entry but now I somehow have to connect all that (and the best thing would be that all the information in the fields still exists when reopening)....

Thanks for listening, Ingo

It usually depends on the application.

Command + N and Command + 1 or some derivation of those appear to be the most popular.

Is this the same thing for restoring a minimized window? My first Mac is currently being shipped, and this is one of the things that's always eluded me when playing with Macs in a retailer store. In Windows you can Alt + Tab and select the program/window and it'll restore it back to it's original size, but even though you can Command + Tab in OSX, when you select a minimized app it doesn't restore it. I'm so confused. Help please? Thanks!

I'm not fond the behavior of minimized applications. I never minimize my applications. I hide them.

What's the difference? Again, I apologize for my ignorance, but the "switch" is coming, and I'm trying to prepare. I'm a power user in Windows and will be hard-pressed to replicate most of my shortcuts. Just trying to figure out what I can still do and how. lol

Hiding just makes them disappear. Minimising reduces them to the dock.

Command + H hides an application and all its windows. Command + ` switches between the windows of an application.

You should try Option + Tab when you have a lot of applications in Exposé as well.
