Repair / Maintenance Man (or woman) in Manhattan?

I'm thinking of doing some repairs / upgrades to my 2008 Mac Pro (3,1) that are at least slightly beyond my own skill level.

In the "old days," I would take my Macs either to TechServe or to the repair department at J&R Computer World. Now, alas, both of these NYC institutions are gone with the wind.

Can anyone recommend a reputable and reliable repair person or center in NYC? I'm in upper Manhattan. This being a gigantic, heavy Mac Pro, I shall have to take it in a cab, unless someone can work on it on site here.

What sort of issues are you having with your Mac Pro? I'm in lower Manhattan and can help for free if it's within my knowledge.

thanks for writing back! I have been having a slightly goofy problem - sort of two-tiered:

* in general, the Mac Pro hardware & OS is very slow, takes forever to boot up etc, and I thought I could speed things up with an SSD drive as the startup.

* another problem is that the hardware is getting cranky, and it's getting more difficult to get drives in and out of the slots & drive bays.

* but I did manage to stick an SSD in there ... it's kind of being held there by the Grace of God right at the moment, no adapter and no proper tray.

* the next step may be to try & use a PCI card / slot to host the SSD (startup), and then replace all the hard drives with 5TB big boys. somehow the slots may be slightly off and need some kind of hardware adjustment.

Anyhow, this is a photo I just took of the SSD drive just now.

so this is where I stand! what do you think?
