Hi,

Picture with included link is a MBP 2010 (A1278) with LED Display damage.

LINK TO IMAGE HERE https://i.ibb.co/8mtSRXX/MBP-scr33nw0e.jpg

White smear/smudge only appears when machine is on. Not as noticeable with light images, visable with darker images/ black desktop background image.

Repair or replace?

Is this the coating problem that you correct with Mouthwash as cleaner?
Is this dirt trapped on LED Display behind glass?

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. If it is liquid damage, I think it has been there for awhile. As if it is etched in. But etched into what? The glass? OR the LED Panel itself? I will need to open it up and have a look. Feedback like yours from the community will pinpoint what I the problem here is.

What's your main use for this? Is it mobile or at a desk? If you use it at a desk most of the time, I'd consider an external monitor which you should be able to pick up very cheap. I would have a difficult time repairing something this old as other components could fail at any time.

There may be no etching and what you see is the residue.

It may just be a matter of removing the to glass, cleaning the area, and replacing the glass. This process is not easy though: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBoo...Mid+2010+Front+Display+Glass+Replacement/4303
