Right,

Just done quick search of the forum (&Apple knowledgebase) but came up with nothing specific (though a few useful asides).

Am on a iBook G3 running 10.2.8 and cannot seem to get Disk Utility Repair permissions to finish. Have been running for 45mins but stalling at the very last hurdle - blue status bar 99% full. Nothing unusual flagged up.

Is this a known error? Is the disk utiltiy FUBAR?

Cheers,

Soton.

Hmm... Try dragging iTunes out of your Applications folder and into the Trash (do not delete). There was a problem back in 10.3.9 whereby some of the iTunes receipts were behaving badly and preventing the permissions from being repaired. :)

Worked! Saw the stuff about iTunes but thought only applied to Panther as I also have an eMac with 10.2.8 & upto date iTunes and had no trouble!

Any ideas to stop it happening again?

Cheers,

Soton.

Booya!

Okay, go to the Receipts folder in Library and remove iTunes4.pkg and any other iTunes receipts aside from iTunesX.pkg, iTunesPhoneDriver.pkg and iTunes.pkg. Put iTunes back in the Applications folder and see if it's any better. :)

Receipts folder only contains iTunesX.pkg & iTunesPhoneDriver.pkg. Looks like this could be the problem. should I just reinstall itunes to get the right settings?

Yeah, bump it to Tiger. I have it on a iBook G3 500. Runs like a champ and none of your issues. Why Jaguar when you can Tiger? Craigslist cheap. I also have some Panther install discs cheap.
