Hey Everyone,

My Macbook had been suffering from the random shutdown syndrome so I brought it to the nearest Apple Store last Tuesday (Aug 29). The laptop was shipped to a repair center, and I was told by the mac "genius" that it would take 1 week MAX. Well, I still have not received it, and the status says that it is awaiting a part order. At this point I think I would be lucky to get it next Tuesday, which would be 2 weeks after I brought it in. I do not mean to be a grumpy customer, but this is frustrating to say the least. Luckily, I have other computers; **let this be a lesson to people that are considering having one machine! You may want to have two**- I know that if I had no computer while this one was being repaired I would be much more irritated.

Anyway, will Apple do anything to make up for the fact that the repairs are taking longer than stated? I assume they won't but just wanted to hear some thoughts. Thanks, and I hope that you people with Macbooks have better luck than I did- although I do love the machine, just not the problems!

Nothing to see here, move on.

Have a little patience. I sent my MacBook Pro in the 7th of August and haven't received it back yet due to various circumstances.

Yes, this means they have had it for over a month.

On the good side, they replaced:
PCBA, MLB, 2.0Ghz,128,PC (hopefully lower the electric whine by 4-5dB)
KEYBOARD ASSY-DNK
SCREEN (they scratched my screen the first time I sent it in and said it couldn't have happened during reparation...)

I was hoping they would upgrade my logic board to the higher version due to the wait but right now I am just overly happy to get it back...in one piece.

I had 5 new parts replaced on my ibook, so they replaced it for an upgraded macbook, speak to customer relations and tell them the laptop is a lemon and you want a new and compensation for the incovience (worked for me, but i did hand mine in in may this year an just started the getting a new one process last week)

If you don't ask for anything, I guarantee they won't make up for it. Unless you call getting a working laptop making up for it...

Great

I figured that would be the response. I really think its funny how so many on these boards thinks Apple products are so superior to anything else. Apple sure has a good marketing department, I guess. I have had much worse luck with Apple than with ANY other manufacturer, period. I wish I didn't like OSX this much because then I would seriously consider never buying an apple product again. Oh well, such is life.

I'm in the same boat...I gave my macbook to apple on aug 25th. Its been on hold waiting for a new heatsink and bezel thing since the 29th. Its been more than 2 weeks, and they don't even have the parts it needs. I'm going to give them tuesday at the latest to get this moving or I'm going to demand a new macbook.

How do you find out what they're replacing on it? I called and asked what the deal was with mine, and they had already fixed the isight. Apparently upon final testing it failed some memory test, so now I don't know what they could be replacing.:confused:They've had it since August 28th.

Yea...

Yea guys, it is irritating. I guess I knew what I was getting myself into, the new revision of the laptop, with a new processor blah blah blah. But it still is very frustrating. If i didn't have another computer, I would be S.O.L. Just makes me feel bad for peopel who save and save and save, and buy the Mac that they really want and then end up not having the darn thing because it's constantly broken. I know this type of stuff can happen, but when you spend a lot you hope and kind of assume it won't! Oh well, I guess that's how it goes!

Darnet chromedome, I hope they get the parts for mine first ;-)

I'd call and ask. When I sent in my iBook for a simple repair last October, it took them more than the time they stated. I called and asked what was taking so long with my repair and they told me that it would be a few more days and what the hold up was. Give it a try, you'll get some information.

I can only expect that they're a bit swamped with some repairs, too.

It appears that many RSD people are "waiting...parts on order" Evidently this is because the new (and hopefully correct) matched logic board/heatsink repair part has just been produced and Apple has been waiting for it arrive so they can correctly repair the RSD macbooks. Hopefully your wait will be worth it with a correct RSD repair the FIRST time. Mine is going in for repair on the 13th when I arrive for a visit to the States.

Good luck!
