I use Tuniq TX-4 on my 2012 i7 2.6. It seems to drop the temperature of the CPU by about 2-3'c at peak 100% load. At idle it is hard to tell the difference exactly but it used to idle in 60s and now regularly sits in the low to mid 50s. That's Celsius.
I have a feeling at peak it used to throttle the CPU more than it does now so now that it has a little more temperature to play with it can run the CPU less throttled ( ie closer to 100% if temp permits). This is only my feeling though as I have not run any benchmarking.
