I'm not sure this is a Catalina issue, but I've noticed for the past several months when I'm logged into the Apple Store website, that if I switch to "account" or "orders," an Apple ID drop-down appears asking if I want to continue with password. It's not asking for Apple ID password, though, but my Mac password. I enter the password, and the drop-down comes back down a second time, so I put the password in again, and then it allows me to view what I've requested. This happens repeatedly, so if I go back to look at an item, like the watches, and then go back to my account, it asks again twice. Is there a setting that I can change to stop this from happening?

Does it replicate if you try to access with the URL https://secure.store.apple.com/order/list ?

Your browser should only be trying to use Sign in With Apple when the website is designed to use it, which apple.com is not, but something about the switching from sections could have you trapped in some weird stray code. So you might just want to reset your browser History.

That said, your browser should ALSO not be prompting for User password when it DOES do Sign in With Apple. The browser should either pull your apple.com credentials from its own record (even in Safari, at least if iCloud Keychain syncing is off) or ask you to type it in. Maybe it's an iCloud Keychain syncing thing...

Yes, it still gave me the drop-down using that URL. I've been trying to figure out if it's keychain or not, and that has just been a nightmare. So far, nothing has worked!

Très bizarre. This is while using which browser?

The idea of Sign in With Apple is that you circumvent the other site in question and only give your password to Apple - just like sign in with Twitter/Facebook. There's no reason for Apple to use Sign in With Apple. It can't bypass itself.

Using Safari, I log into my Apple store account using my Apple ID, but anytime I leave the account page to shop or look at anything on the apple.com website, then go back to my account or to view orders, I get that drop-down asking for my Mac password (usually twice as the other commenter mentioned). I asked my husband to sign into his account and the same thing happens to him.

Using Chrome browser, the same thing happens except when it prompts for my password, it wants the Apple ID password, not the one for logging into my Mac.

Using the Apple Store app on my phone is much less annoying, so maybe I'll stick to that. I appreciate your help.
