Once and for all, since I googled without finding a straight answer: If I replace the modules that come with the 2015 iMac 5k (1833MHz) with new ones with 1600MHz, will that work?
What will be the downside of using cheaper and slower ram? Disregard that I'm obviously replacing it with MORE ram, I'm just looking for a quick plus/minus of the MHz. (The minus is the price and availability of the faster ram)

Well it would seem nothing much because Apple states that you should be using 1600MHz ram

It doesn't look like the list was updated to reference the iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015). But I agree that downgrading to 1600 MHz, or upgrading to 2133 MHz, will work fine even if Apple doesn't advertise compatibility.
Good catch - I saw 2015 and I grabbed the screen shot.
