I was wondering if there's an option currently where I can upgrade my classic's(bought in may 09) hard drive from 120 to either 240 or 250 gb. I think it's 6.5 gen, I bought it when 120gb was the only iPod classic available, then they upgraded the storage to 160(same shell)

I've been looking into upgrading the drive in my 5G iPod video, but all I've seen about the Classic is that it's a much harder job. Try looking on iFixit. Apricorn has a kit to upgrade the 5G.

The 240GB is pretty pricey, but I managed to do it with my iPod 5th gen. Wasn't too bad, though the classics aren't designed to be opened nearly as easily as the 5th gen and I do believe the classic actually uses a different kind of connection to the hard drive, but I'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure you need a 5.5G 80GB model to do this upgrade. I upgraded and have used it for video only to output on my TV. The 240GB is actually noticeably slower, there is a slight delay in loading songs. So if speed is a issue for you I don't really recommend it, but for my needs its awesome.
